To understand the difference between a 'Mover' and a 'Move Manager,' it helps to begin by explaining the difference between a 'move-day' and a 'move project.'
Move-day: A 'move-day' is the day when the movers show up with the moving truck. They remove all items from the home, load the truck, drive to the new home, and unload the truck. When they leave, the furniture should be in the right rooms, and all boxes should be inside the home, however, the home is far from 'settled.'
Move Project: A 'move project' is every task and action associate with moving. It begins the day you decide you're going to move. It includes planning timelines, figuring out what furniture will or won't fit in the new home and how to arrange it, deciding what to take, packing every box, scheduling the movers, coordinating with the key players for moving into the new home, communicating with the realtor about selling the old home, managing the move-day, unpacking all the boxes, putting every possession away in the new home, etc... until every empty box is removed and every item in it's new place in the new home, and the old home is fully cleaned out and keys are in the hands of the realtor.
Movers are key players on one critical day, but Move Managers are project managers helping you make the entire transition go quickly and smoothly. They're trained and experienced at every stage of the transition process, they have relationships with auctioneers, non-profit donation sites, realtors, house repair companies, etc. Senior Move Managers are a class of move managers that have gone through additional training to work with seniors who are downsizing.
